Dr. Carrie Miller

Dr. Carrie A Miller has been an associate with Shore Vets since 2003. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, she is a 2003 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine. Carrie's veterinary training began with a veterinary technology degree at Manor College, a small school in Jenkintown, PA. She very much enjoyed the diversity and challenge that animals would always seem to bring while trying to not bring too many of them home! Her first nursing job was at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates, a specialty and emergency hospital in Valley Forge, PA. Long overnight shifts were never a bore. Carrie went on to obtain a BA in Chemistry at Beaver College, in Glenside, PA. During school, she also worked in Penn's small animal ICU and also in the Upenn Vet Oncology Dept, where she co-published a research paper on mammary carcinoma. Her undergraduate thesis work evaluated animals with rare genetic diseases after therapies such as bone marrow transplants and enzyme replacement therapies were performed. The most rewarding part of that work was seeing the collaboration between the human and veterinary fields at UPenn, and knowing that the research conducted then, is helping these young children now. Her special interests are soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and dentistry. More than 20 years later she still enjoys General Practice and continues to have a special interest in dental care. Carrie lives in Ocean City, NJ with her family. When not at work, she is usually busy trying to keep up with her 3 children who are usually harassing their 2 cats - a black and white domestic longhair, Mr. Pickles, and a ragdoll, Jacques Cousteau, and their golden retriever, Cove...thank goodness, they are all good sports!
